New TSA rules....its starting....
« on: February 01, 2010, 10:09:15 PM »

Just got a directive from one of my vendors today....be prepared to provide this info from here on out....

Begining on Feb 24 there will be fields for the new Secure Flight information as mandated by the Dept of Homeland Security.  When you are completing your reservation you will be prompted for your clients legal name as it appears on their passport including their full middle name.  You will also be required to enter their date of birth.

Even if you are traveling DOMESTICALLY, you have to enter your "passport" name.

If I book tickets myself (for instance, to Arizona), will it ask ME for the "passport" name.

Will the airline confirmations/itinerary (etickets) have the "passport" name?

Basically, your name needs to be entered according to the Identification you are using at check in.  So if you are flying domestically and showing your driver's license, your ticket should match that.  The problem therein lies that alot of drivers' licenses don't even match up with a person's "legal" name.  Its still a bit of of mess and is being phased in (they're behind schedule), but here's wonderful reading material (The section entitled The Top TSA Questions I found to answer most of the questions people have in the first 3 questions):

Domestically I would use my Drivers License, which is KAREN J.
Internationally my passport is KAREN JEANNE.

If I make a rez with you for, say, American Air, We can enter Karen J.

But if I do Jet Blue, and I make my rez on line with my ACCOUNT, they are not yet set up for any type of name adjustment such as adding middle name/initial.

I dont want the expense of changing name on Drivers License.  My Amex Jet Blue CARD has middle Name.....

I've been ok so far with this combo.  I should be for the short-term going forward - right?

Technically, they are concerned about your Government Issued ID that you use for check in....they don't care about your credit card or your frequent flier accounts (although WE do, as we want to get the miles).  Maybe now that Jet Blue is switching over to Sabre, they'll be able to accept more info and make changes that they couldn't make before.

I just had to add additional TSA information for my United Airlines flight.  I've never had to do that before.

This was an issue for me in October on a Delta flight to CUN.  Reservation in Elaine Bowen, passport Jessie Elaine Bowen.  Fortunately Delta changed the name @ no charge.  Wasn't an issue in June to MBJ or April flight to Rome all Delta flights.

I immediately alerted Tami to  name "change" and had all frequent flier accounts (previously Elaine) changed.  Now I just have to remember to answer to Jessie....... Surprised

I just booked a flight to Seattle matching my drivers licence.  I think my passport has my middle name but my license does not.  I need my passport because I am going to Victoria.  Should I change my AA ticket to reflect the passport or just show the drivers licence at check in?

If your flight is roundtrip Seattle, and you used your name the way it appears on your Drivers License to book the ticket, then you will show your Drivers License for airport check in.  Again, probably for a period of time, we'll be reminded at check in what they are looking for on the matching of ID....People that book tickets using nickname "Jack" instead of their real name "John", or "Kate" as opposed to "Mary Katherine"....these are the issues they are trying to fix.
