We will try to get last year's cancelled vacation (swine flu) and our 40th anniversary combined this year at the Barcelo Palace!  Thanks for the late night work on our arrangements, Tami!

Iowastar, you are going to LOVE the Barcelo Palace.  Are you doing Club Premium? When i went in September I only paid $40/day difference.....I heard some people paid $60.  For me.......being able to get a room closer to the beach and having the Club Premium lounge made a big difference.  But then I am only one person.

Whichever building you stay in Michoacan or Oaxaca - I know you'll have a great time.  The biggest thing is to make ALL your reservations for dinner as SOON as you get there. Not to be missed:  French (at the Palace, Japanese (at the Colonial)....the buffet was pretty good.

The only downside I could see - room service charges $4 per item.   Havana Club rum is the best......Great service............

Oh, there is one more downside....sometimes they leave "treats" in the room (I dont know if its a Club Premium thing....) and they do NOT cover them with plastic.

No Club Premium, but we will do just fine with the standard.  We have stayed at the Barcelo Beach so we are anxious to experience the upgrade.  This will be our 9th trip to Mexico and wish we could be repeaters more often.  Once every two years seems to be our trend.  Thanks for your advice!

We had an awesome vacation not paying the extra for the club premium and would do that again.  Have a great vacation at the Palace, and Happy 40th Anniversary this year!!
