Puerto Morelos
« on: December 12, 2009, 07:54:31 PM »

It was too cold in OK so we headed south.  We have thawed out sitting here in this cute, little 3rd floor apartment with the big sliding glass doors open and looking at the ocean about 150 ft away!  We are doing the non-AI trip in Puerto Morelos this time.  And, we flew from DFW with a connection in Mexico City.  We like adventures and this was certainly different.

More to come after we get some much needed rest.

A taco stand inside the Mexico City airport. Tacos al pastor. They were awesome!

Putting on the fixins!

Umm good!

Casita Blanca Condos. Ours is on the top floor right.

We see this every morning!

2 star accommodations with a 6 star view.

This is where we bought lunch today

Taking lunch home

Takeout containers were plastic bags for the beans & rice.

One whole chicken w/rice, beans and salsa. $70 pesos

more later.....

I LIKE it!!!!  Looks just perfect to me!  There's great snorkeling in Puerto Morelos....looking forward to hearing all about it!  We get that chicken dinner all the time on Isla Mujeres...you're missing the sweet pickled onions..they are the best!

Enjoy!

Mackey...the air was $208 R/T per person thru Mexico City from DFW.  Probably  won't do it again because it made for a long day.  I like 2 1/2 hrs from DFW and we are there.

I don't know if post holiday Plano is happening.  I think the ball got dropped.

Mark...this is one of the most relaxing vacations ever.  It is a step above Akumal because there are so many local places to choose to eat.  We will definitely return next December.  You can't beat one week for $540 for lodging.  And, the beaches are deserted except on the weekends when all the locals come.

PS...Dan liked your look, Mackey so he gave it a try.

Looks wonderful, Steph!  I love the "town square" there ... the church, the bookstore, Hola Asia restaurant, etc.

We spent an evening in Puerto Morelos on Nov. 30th at a restaurant on the beach, it was beautiful there ...
