Sure Laurie, I'll keep an eye on him. It's raining here right now.  I hope he took his umbrella.  Laughing

Janie, remember that we each have "two extra little passengers"....LOL!!!!

I missed the PF07, 08, 09...and I missed going to TX this spring.  I hope I can swing Texas in the fall -- I really MISS MY FRIENDS.  But I'm aiming for "something" next year as I already said.

I vote for late July - for selfish reasons. We think that is when we will take our family vaca and we want Patrick to have turned 18 so he can have an adult bracelet. I also vote for the Iberostar Paraiso complex. Again, the selfish reason is we want to take the kids to the Grand because we will be celebrating a high school graduation, a college graduation and an 18th birthday. I turn 50 later in the year, but I'm sorry - that is going to be so traumatic it will require it's own trip.

I do think the Iberostar Paraiso is a good choice because you've got so many price point options and makes it more affordable for more peeps.

I really love late July too.  Love the tan you get then.  But I am Iberostarred OUT!  I've done five or more Iberotrips and long for somewhere totally new to explore.  I hope more people get to come in 2010!

I was an IberoHomer......for far too long!

Started in 1998......and....

Although we got some perks.....

They were too far and FEW......for the Dinero we spent with that Business Entity over a multitude of years......borderlining on a decade.

I will never return to a resort in that fashion...unless they have a publicized repeater program.....one that holds water. I met many people in Iberostar MGMT...and thier hands were tied. I have great friends from it......but I'd have to go to Brazil, Jamaica etc...to see these friends.

Although we have great Memories......the 10 plus trips....and Loyalty.....

I'd never do that again!

Nor would I step foot in an Iberostar lobby...anytime soon.

Just my 2 Pesos

Peace!

Actran, I probably should explain....the first PF's were held at Iberostar del Mar, and then migrated over to the Lindo/Maya....so we had several years running at the Iberostar complex.  It's still a great property, I just think that the group got tired of it (maybe the way some are feeling about Barcelo now)...that's what sparked the conversation of even moving to another destination and/or a different hotel chain....I'm excited to hear that we're on your agenda!!   Cool

I would actually love returning to an IB*. unfortunately the one I love is the T/Q, not playa paraiso, and after air conditioned dining in the summer, cant quite see going back to sweating the calories off WHILE you are eating them.... I think i use to change clothes about 4 times a day there!  But I do miss all the festiveness around an Iberostar - like the club song/dance, the branding everywhere, etc....

nonetheless, I couldnt see going back in summer.

Rhonda - Chicago sounds good to me! love that town... and it has a beach and cool water to swim in . lol.

Wherever we try to go I will try. WE, as Laurie and Al, will be experiencing a college freshman after this year, so a lot will depend on the Texas Real Estate market and my dashing and charming sales skills in that area   Laughing  Cant imagine NOT seeing everyone in the summer, but we'll just have to see.

I DO absolutely want something entirely new also.  If they price out reasonably I would love us to consider the RIU Palace's  over at Cabo and PV...Cabo, probably more than PV because Tamicita informs me its about a 5 minute cab ride to town!!! WE dropped  a buttload of money on cabfare to PDC this summer from teh Barcelo. The girls totally dug going to town and exploring new things... and I do too.

Sooooooooooooooooo.... we could take over teh Royal PDC or the Gran Porto( which ever is the big gold one on the beach).... too.  that would be a 5 minute walk and no cab fare! but I think they're $$$ too.

Keith you are soooooooooooooooooooooooo right.  My son and I feel the same way.  IB* either forgot or never learned the cliche "Dance with who brung ya."  Most of the guests who built them up were basically given the short shrift with the corporate attitude of "If you don't return then so what.  There are hundreds of others who will take your place".

Now there was a minority who prospered.....I will leave it at that.

Actran.....we'll party with ya!  Iberostar is my home away from home too...for the last 10 years.   Since we didn't get to Iberostar this year   Sad    I am definitely needing an Ib* fix next year.  Not sure about late July, but let me know your plans for later in the year.  We would be happy to ring in the 50th with you and have a delayed celebration for our 50ths....which happened this year.  We would be at the Del Mar, but I'm sure we could come and visit with you at the Grand!   Very Happy   I can't plan anything definite yet, but something to start dreaming about!

I totally agree about having the air conditioning dining options for a summer Mexico vacation.  July in Mexico is not our top choice, but we try to make it when we can afford it only to see our beachboard friends!  Very Happy  I'm keeping my mouth shut on choices for PF '10 though.  It's not looking good.  We have our 25th wedding anniversary in May.  We just can't do it all, but our new roof looks good!

Let me also chime in to say Miss Katie is sooooooooooo adorable!!  We're doing the college visits too here.  Wink

Oh wow it's a big year for us too - high school graduation, college graduation, 18th birthday, and 25th wedding anniversay.  Very Happy 2010 a BIG year!  Very Happy  I'm in no hurry to get my son that bracelet though. Wink  Laughing  No trip to the Grand for us, but wow that would be awesome!!!

Joni, Heather and I gave up the IB* a couple years ago. We loved our years there, primarily because of the friends we were with, but our impression of the IB* chain went down hill quickly. We will never return to an IB* property again unless it is home to a PF in a killer destination (like CUBA!!!)  We went back to Cancun last year the week after PF 09 and stayed at the Grand Solaris, and this year stayed in the good old USA.

We know one thing for certain, it is not as important where you are as it is who you are with. We miss all of our PF friends, and look forward to the day that we explore a new destination with our cyber family!
