Great news today.  The pet scan of entire body came back negative of any other cancer cells.  So, it looks like it is just the one spot that needs to be removed thru chemo and surgery.  Her first round of chemo is Monday.

A very difficult week but she ended it with a bang because she had tickets to the Britney Spears concert.  She and her girlfriends let loose for a night.  Way to go, Megan!!!!

PS...thank ALL of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Great news, Steph, in the midst of serious news.

I wanted to reply yesterday when I read this but couldn't type since I just had minor hand surgery. First let me say as a breast cancer survivor, I'm sorry she has to deal with this but she has been through the worst part of finding out she has it and waiting for all the test results to see what her course of treatment will be. Sounds like very good news on the pet scans.  Now she gets down to doing something about it and even though it isn't easy, you feel you're finally doing something to get rid of this beast. Sounds like she has an excellent team on her side and a positive attitude. She's fortunate to have caught it so early. Also she's surrounded by a very supporting family which is so important.

Please keep us informed and if she wants to know of any breast cancer forums to be able to read, message me and I'll send them.

Sending my thoughts and prayers their way.

It's just horrible when cancer strikes someone so young.

So sorry to hear this, but sounds like she is in good hands with a plan of action, good doctors, and the love and support of a wonderful family and friends. My prayers will be with Megan and her family.
Let me say my mother is a 21 year breast cancer survivor, with all the treatments and a single mastectomy she has been cancer free for 21 years and will be turning 75 this month! Ladies, don't put off those mamograms!

Believe me, that is the best statement I have heard.  And, when I stopped to think about it, it made all the sense in the world.  It also made me breathe a huge sigh of relief.  This last week has been horrendous with our emotions going up and down daily.  But, now they have all their ducks in a row and feel empowered to beat this thing.

Again, to all our friends...thank you! thank you! thank you!  All your comments have been very uplifting and a bright spot.

Steph and Dan, you and the kids are in my thoughts and prayers.  It sounds like she has a terrific medical team.   I hope her family's love and support, and all of our prayers will see her through this difficult time.

Dan & Steph, Megan & Joe:
Please add our prayers from IL to the others for a path to a complete recovery.  Way to many young women getting breast cancer these days?????

It is awesome how the plan of treatment and recovery has gotten mapped out so quickly.  May the next months go as smoothly!

Sallyinpa...you are awesome!  Thanks for remembering.  She had chemo on Monday and felt fine afterward.  She went to work on Tuesday.  Wednesday went to work but had to come home at noon.  She was very nauseous.  Took her medicine for that and slept three hours.  We knew today was the day that would be the hardest, supposedly.  So, all in all, it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible.

The absolutely most amazing part of this journey has been the expediency of everything coming together this last week!  We all know nothing happens fast enough when dealing with tests and doctor appointments. But, it only took one week for Megan to find a lump, get a mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, MRI, pet scan, pic line, surgeon, oncologist, meet with a survivor and have her first treatment!  There had to be divine intervention because that is totally impossible, yet it happened.
