Hi All! Good news, we're home again!!!!!!!!!!! Tom's much better, still a long way to go and probably lots of bumps in the way ahead. But we'll take it a day at a time. Digestion a little better and breathing much better. Just being home helps lots. No more anxious moments in the past 24 hours. I feel like a just opened a pharmacy in my kitchen!
We finally got the call from University of Wisconson saying they'd like to consider us further for a lung transplant but of course that will have to get put on the back burner for now.
Can't see a gastro guy for a serious second opinion for 3 weeks, YIKES! We'll do our best to stay out of trouble. Thank you all you your kind words and prayers. I swear, this board is my "medication"!

Good to hear that he has improved enough to be home! It is always so much more comfortable at your own home. Don't forget to take care of yourself too!!

Thanks Laurie for thinking of us. It does feel good to be home. Right now, so far so good. It's challenging thinking of creative ways to fix "soft foods". His vitals are all real good now, especially his breathing. His feet and ankles are terribly swollen but we'll keep pushing those diuretics. Please keep him in your prayers, we still have a long way to go.

Been home a week now and both of us back to work for 2 days. Tom's work ethic is beyond anyone I know. He plays hurt but gets the job done. He was eligible to retire May 1st with 30 years with the federal gov't but says he'd rather sit at his desk at work and keep busy rather than sit on the couch and go stir crazy. He's still very frail (weighs in at 112#'s as the challenged breathing eats up a lot of his calories) and weak. We see a GI specialist in 2 weeks and see where things are. We still have a long way to go but we'll keep taking baby steps. Thanks for the continued prayers.
