RAM!!
« on: March 02, 2008, 11:00:26 PM »

As a travel agent, I've been involved over the past decade with a group that offers medical services in Central America.  I coordinate flights for doctors, nurses and medical techs that perform for a week at a time for free in areas that need health care....

Tonight on 60 minutes, an inspirational segment on emergency health clinics within our own borders was presented http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/28/60minutes/main3889496.shtml.   If this doesn't move you, I'm not sure what would.....  http://www.ramusa.org/

I was very moved by this I can not believe at this day and age that so many people do not have health insurance and will wait in line all day for this free clinic

So I want health care for all.  This is my priority for this upcoming Presidential election.  Currently we have raised funds for a young friend with Type 1 diabetes who is temporarily uninsured until July 1.  Going to cast my vote tomorrow here in Ohio!!!

I agree with Laurie we should have free health care for all every where I used to work in a pharmacy and it was very sad when the seniors came in and could not afford there medicine Some times it was a decision for them about wanting to eat for the month or getting there medicine Shocked

Well I don't know about free for everyone, but we need a fix/something!!! - and I know it won't be easy.  Sad  It's alittle frustrating to know how to vote because the details aren't really there in any of the plans to know how it will all pan out in the real world.  Soooo complicated.  Politics!  Blah!!  Sick

Laurie, I mentioned to you the other day about the movie "Sicko"....I know that some people don't agree with Michael Moore's views on alot of issues, but this movie actually had support on both sides of the aisle in Congress.  I was not that familiar with how healthcare services operated in other countries and this was pretty enlightening....crazy that we've gone as long as we have without helping our own citizens more.   Confused

Yep, I remember our conversation, Tami.  I'm still afraid to watch it.  Shocked  I'm afraid it'll light a fire under me.  I'm the activist type, and I already have too much on my plate.  Wink
